Wheelie-bins with legs! Our 6 walking bins and hi-vis vested volunteers took part in the Puck Fair parade and received great support from the crowd. We have Tuesday off to enjoy the Fair on the Scattering Day and we're back out on the streets on Thursday to prettify our town. The early risers got the large flower towers and containers back out on the streets again - and Thanks Johnny Cronin! Bird conference attended (Rosie and James D) in Tralee.
Tue 5th, Thu 7th Aug '14
Most of the town's large planters and containers were removed for safe-keeping during Puck Fair. Briers and overgrowth was cut back along the Tralee Rd (Evans' to Astellas gate). We clipped briers up along Annadale Road with cyclists, walkers and runners in mind. Graffiti removed from limestone and metal signage at Beaufort Glencar junction at Lawlor's Bridge; this exercise was not entirely successful so we've reported it on the FixMyArea app. Placed name tags on some of our native trees along the Railway Walk. The lovely rose bed on Crows road was weeded and tidied. Two shop fronts at the Bridge as well as the Garda barracks were washed down with soapy water as they are highly visible when driving through town.
